Famous Residents of the Phoenix/Scottsdale Area

The Phoenix Metro Area, often referred to as the Valley of the Sun, is a very desirable place to live.  With its 300 + days of sunshine per year (85 percent of daylight hours - highest in the nation) and average annual temperature of 72 degrees, its the No 1 reason visitors come to the area, many of whom ultimately call the area home.  The area continues to grow dramatically.  As of 2012, the Valley became the 13th largest metropolitan area at 4.33 million, up from 4.19 million in 2010.

As a function of its dynamic growth and fantastic weather most of the year, many celebrities call the Valley home.  Scottsdale and Paradise Valley have often been referred to as 'Hollywood Light.'  Lets look at who some of them are and where they live:

David Spade - The SNL comedian has lived in Scottsdale since he was 4 years old and resides in McCormick Ranch.

Kurt Warner - The former Arizona Cardinals QB sold his Paradise Valley mansion last year for $2.5 million and now resides in North Scottsdale.

Bret Michaels - This rock star has had a home around Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale for some time.

Mike Tyson - The boxing champ resides in Paradise Valley.  He used to live in a suburb of Cleveland, near where I grew up.  I have run into this guy several times in my life, once in Cleveland, once in Old Town Scottsdale, and once in the Biltmore area...he really needs to stop following me around.

Alice Cooper - This legendary rock star has lived in Paradise Valley for three decades.

Dan Quayle - Our former vice president resides in Paradise Valley.  His son Ben who was a former US Representative lives in Arcadia - I actually appraised a house right across the street from his a few years back.

Ok now who are some of the wealthiest in the area?

Bruce Halle - the wealthiest guy in Arizona is the founder and chairman of Discount Tire Co.  He recently surpassed the previous wealthiest Arizona resident who is next on our list.  Net worth?  A cool $4 billion.  Tires really?  I guess I'm not the only one who only shops for tires at his stores.

Bennett Dorrance - heir to the Campbell Soup Company...need I say more.  I have seen the aerial view of his estate in Paradise Valley - its monstrous.

Bob Parsons - quickly moving up the list of the wealthiest in this country, the GoDaddy.com founder lives in Scottsdale.

A fun part of my business is I get to see some fantastic and amazing properties around the Phoenix Metro Area.  It's an incredible experience to walk thru 15,000 sf mansions overlooking the Valley.  The opulence and grandeur is impressive and can truly take your breath away.  Certainly a perk of being in the real estate business in such a fantastic place to live.
